About these terms

SpecBase (specbase.co.za) is operated by Datum Line (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2025/745058/07, South Africa ("SpecBase", "we"). These terms apply when you use SpecBase or create an account. By creating an account or using SpecBase, you agree to them. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal information.

Your account

• You sign in with your email address and a password. Keep your password secret; you are responsible for activity on your account.
• Give accurate information and keep it up to date. If you act for an organisation, you confirm you may do so.
• Tell us at support@specbase.co.za if you think someone else has used your account.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• break the law, or infringe anyone else's rights;
• upload malicious code, or try to get around security or access controls;
• scrape, copy in bulk or resell SpecBase content or data, except as these terms or a manufacturer's licence allow;
• impersonate a person, organisation or manufacturer;
• send false sample requests, quote requests or orders, or spam manufacturers;
• interfere with SpecBase or with other people's use of it.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you add: your Boards, Projects, notes, requests and files. You let us host, store and show your content only as needed to run SpecBase for you, and to send it to a manufacturer when you choose to send them a request. Your personal profile is private unless you choose to publish it in your account settings. You confirm that you have the right to add your content.

Manufacturer information

• Product information, images, specifications, documents and prices on SpecBase come from manufacturers or their published sources, and manufacturers are responsible for their accuracy.
• Where information is unverified, in draft, unavailable or awaiting a manufacturer's review, SpecBase says so.
• Check product information with the manufacturer, and against the applicable standards and regulations, before you rely on it.

Downloads and BIM content

• Revit families, BIM objects, drawings and documents are made available under the licence the manufacturer provides with them. Use them only as that licence allows.
• They are provided for design and specification work. Verify all dimensions, performance data and compliance with the manufacturer and your project's professional team before construction, procurement or installation.

Beta features

Some SpecBase features, including the SpecBase plugin for Revit, are in Beta. Beta features may change, contain errors or be withdrawn. Keep your own backups of your Revit models. Autodesk and Revit are trademarks of Autodesk, Inc.

Quotes and orders

SpecBase lets you send sample requests, quote requests and orders to manufacturers. A quote or order is between you and the manufacturer or supplier, under the terms that apply to it. Payments through SpecBase are not currently enabled.

Intellectual property

SpecBase, its software and its design belong to Datum Line (Pty) Ltd or its licensors. Manufacturer names, logos, images and content belong to the manufacturers. You may use SpecBase for your own professional work; these terms do not transfer any ownership.

Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep SpecBase available and working, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features.

Suspension and deletion

• We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or where the law requires it.
• You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing support@specbase.co.za. The Privacy Notice explains what happens to your information.

Your rights under law

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have by law that cannot be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and we will show the new date above.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
